It just comes down to a matter of preference. Then you have other things like the Angels and Elementals. Perfect example is the Human Infantry from AoW2 and it's couterpart Human Longswordsmen in AoW3. ![]() AoW3's Art Design is, IMO, very different than AoW2's design. Then there's the general Art Design and direction. Kinda like Icewind Dale and Baldur's Gate, the in game Sprites were fairly junky but a lot of the full Portraits looked awesome. On the other hand 2D Sprites + Portraits typically mean high quality artwork to supplement the Sprite and so they "look better" because the Portrait adds a ton of flavor. Now my Custom Leaders get to actually look like how I made them instead of a shadowy robed figure. On one hand having fully 3D models is nice since their model portraits reflect their in game models. Part of the problem is 2D Sprites get Portraits instead of 3D Models. Has any of you that has played the previous AoW felt the same? If so, did you continue to play it and did the experience get any better? So it's rare for me to complain about the graphics.īut there's something about AoW 3 graphics that puts me off from enjoying the game. I also regurarly play old games, for the first time, such as Ultima Underworld, System Shock 1, STAR WARS: Tie-Fighter, Might & Magic 3 and more. ![]() I recently finished SanctuaryRPG Black Edition, look up the graphics in that game. ![]() I normally don't care much about graphics. Why the hell did they decide to make half-♥♥♥♥♥ 3D models instead of the beautiful 2D portraits found in the previous games. I'll be blunt here, I think the game looks very bad compared to Shadow Magic, specifically the world map and especially the heroes. But my first impressions hasn't been good. I'm a big fan of Shadow Magic so I picked this up on the sale, even bought the expansion because Tigrans.
